Running to Support Breast Cancer Research

You can support crucial breast cancer research by joining the California Breast Cancer Research Program (CBCRP) at The San Francisco Marathon™ on Sunday, July 25.

In 2009, 25 runners raised over $22,000 for the California Breast Cancer Research Program through The San Francisco Marathon’s™ Cause to Run™ fundraising programs. Other “Team CBCRP” volunteers registered racers, handed out racing supplies, and helped with other behind-the-scenes details.

This year, The San Francisco Marathon™ has again selected the California Breast Cancer Research Program as a beneficiary organization. This time, there are more ways to get involved:

Cause to Run™

Race for Free™

Train for Free™

There’s another way you can help us spread the word:

Donations Fund Urgently Needed Research
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in California, and 4,200 Californians die each year from the disease. Nearly 20,000 Californians will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. Eighty percent of women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history of the disease.

Donations received through Cause to Run™, Race for Free™, and Train for Free™ will support researchers throughout California to improve breast cancer prevention, detection, and treatment.

Race/Train for Free™ and Cause to Run™ are administered by Community to Community, which produces The San Francisco Marathon™. Thirty percent of funds raised through The San Francisco Marathon™ programs go to Community to Community to cover administration expenses and also to support Youth Run4Fun, a sustainable, community-based running and fitness program for underserved Bay Area youth.
