Community Research Collaboration Awards Technical Assistance
Are you curious about how community members and researchers can form teams, receive funding, and conduct breast cancer research together? Have you already formed a team, but have questions about applying for funding?
Community Research Collaboration awards (CRC) provide $150,000 to $600,000 of funding (plus indirect funds for most institutions) to support a research partnership between community organizations/members and experienced, traditional researchers that answers questions important to the community. Application success rates have historically been high, ranging from 19% to 43%. Past CRC Awards have funded research topics from the fields of:
- Health policy, public health, and health services
- Psychology and sociology
- Epidemiology
- Behavioral science
- Environmental sciences
- Ethnic studies
The deadline for submitting a CRC application is March 28, 2013, but you should begin finding a partner, forming your team, discussing research ideas and methodology, and getting prepared to apply now.
The CBCRP is offering three ways to get advice and information how to get your community-based participatory research project off the ground and funded.
One-on-One Technical Assistance
The CBCRP is giving FREE one-on-one technical assistance to help prepare for applying to the Community Research Collaboration (CRC) awards.
If you need help finding a partner, have a partner and want to talk through your research ideas or partnership plan, or have any other question about applying for the CRC awards, contact Senaida Fernandez, Ph.D. at (510) 987-0491 or Senaida.Fernandez@ucop.edu to request technical assistance. Marj Plumb, Dr.P.H., MNA, a specialist in community-based participatory research will also be available.
Pre-Application Research Plan Review
You have the opportunity to get your research plans critiqued by active community-based participatory researchers before submitting your formal application. This process can be helpful for learning whether your research idea or partnership structure is on the right track. In the pre-application research plan review process, experienced CBCRP CRC review committee reviewers will evaluate your research plan for research quality, feasibility, partnership and community benefit. You can then talk with CBCRP staff about the feedback you receive and get additional technical assistance as you put your grant application together.
