Special Research Initiatives
The CBCRP announces funding opportunities through our Special Research Initiatives (SRI). Investigators will be supported to pursue research strategies that increase knowledge about and create solutions to both the environmental causes of breast cancer and the unequal burden of the disease. Seven new initiatives are scheduled for funding.

“Core Funding” Call for Applications - Cycle 17 - 2011
The Call for Applications for grants to begin next year will be distributed and posted on our website on August 1. We offer the following award types:
- Innovative Developmental and Exploratory Award (IDEA): for promising high-risk/high-reward projects. Up to $150,000 direct costs for up to 18-months.
- Translational Research: for projects that overcome barriers and put prior research knowledge to practical use in the patient or community setting. Up to $750,000 direct costs for up to 3-years. For more information in this award type, go to.
- Joining Forces Conference: supports a conference, symposium, retreat, or other meeting to stimulate new ideas and collaborations. Up to $25,000.
- Community Research Collaboration awards are described in a separate call for applications:
